Fenix works as an insulation sub-contractor on M&E and mechanical contractor packages across the UK. We work off drawings, attend programme meetings, interface with other trades, and deliver insulation installations that pass inspection first time. We carry our own public liability insurance. Every job is documented against the relevant BS standard.
An insulation sub-contractor needs to do two things well: turn up when it says it will, and install to the specification. Programme delays caused by a sub that won’t commit to dates, or defects that need re-doing because the spec wasn’t followed, are expensive and reputationally damaging for the main or M&E contractor.
Fenix works to a written insulation specification on every job — either the client’s specification, or one we produce and agree before work starts. Our RAMS are site-specific, not generic. Our supervisors carry their relevant skills cards. And if there is a programme change, we respond promptly and commit to revised dates.
We are experienced in the interface between insulation and other trades on M&E projects — lagging after pressure testing, working around electrical commissioning, coordinating insulation to the pipework handover sequence. We know how M&E projects run.
Fenix operates as an insulation sub-contractor on M&E packages ranging from building services plant rooms to complex process and utility installations. We are comfortable working on direct award packages from M&E contractors and as part of managed frameworks on larger programmes.
Our estimating team produces detailed takeoffs from drawings and specifications. We attend pre-contract meetings, submit RAMS in advance, and manage our programme requirements internally rather than pushing that workload back to the contractor. On larger packages, we provide a dedicated supervisor who is the single point of contact on site.
We can mobilise quickly on reactive maintenance programmes — covering insulation works that arise on M&E and FM contractor maintenance schedules, or remobilising when a programme is accelerated. We hold our own supply chain for all standard insulation materials and can source specialist products without relying on contractor procurement.
All Fenix site operatives carry relevant skills cards. We carry our own public liability insurance. We can submit PQQ documentation for contractor approval schemes. Our documentation — material certificates, completion records, and test certificates — is provided at handover.

Fenix provides the full insulation package as a sub-contractor — specification, materials, installation, documentation, and handover. We work from drawings and a specification provided by the main or M&E contractor, produce site-specific RAMS, install to the standard required, and provide a written completion record at handover. We can be engaged on a direct award basis or as part of a competitive tender.
We carry our own public liability insurance. All site operatives hold relevant skills cards. We can provide health and safety documentation, including RAMS templates and our HSE record, as part of the PQQ process.
Yes. We maintain a standing team and a supply chain of standard insulation materials. For reactive or accelerated programme situations, we can typically mobilise with short notice. If a programme date changes, we respond quickly and commit to revised dates rather than managing the contractor with uncertainty.
Yes. Fenix works on new build M&E packages, refurbishment and upgrade programmes, and planned maintenance insulation work on operational buildings and plant. We are experienced in the sequencing requirements of each — the different interface points with other trades, the access constraints on operational sites, and the documentation requirements that differ between new build and maintenance contracts.
Fenix covers thermal insulation, acoustic insulation, trace heating (with appointed electrical sub-contractors for final connections), removable insulation jackets for valves and fittings, sheet metal cladding, and foam injection for inaccessible voids. Most M&E packages require a combination of these services — Fenix provides all of them, which means one sub-contractor to manage rather than several.
Each of the following services can be applied within this sector. Follow the links for full technical scope, applicable standards and project examples.
